making apartment hunting suck less

March 26, 2009

I just came across the niftiest little website, and I am wishing deeply that I’d had this while I was apartment-hunting last year: PadMapper.  It takes all of the current listings on Craigslist and lays them out on a map, so you can actually see where there are places available instead of scrolling through page after page of posts.  And it allows you to filter by price, number of bedrooms, etc..  Genius!  Not limited to Los Angeles, either – they’re all over the U.S. and Canada.

If someone comes up with a way to do this for, say, restaurants you’ve visited, I will be delighted.  (Yelp’s awkward attempt at interfacing with Google Maps – what is with those annoying animations? – doesn’t count.)
